Friends of Cedarvale.
There is nothing like nature for inspiration.
In 2025, I had the amazing opportunity to have my design selected for the non-profit Friends of Cedarvale’s first t-shirt.
The inspiration for this design came from my daily walks through the park and ravine, and participating in the nature walks that the organization provides to lecture neighbours and park users about the nature that populate the park and the ravine.
To create this t-shirt design, I started out gathering photographs of the things I most love about the park and ravine, such as the wooden bridges, castle frank brook, entry signage, the dog park, the comfortable benches with plaques to loved ones, and to populate the design I also researched the native and non- native flora that exist on the park and ravine, selected the plants and flowers that mostly captured my eye and finally, created a soft sans serif font that works well with the typography of the Friends of Cedarvale logo.
All this to create a cohesive design.
In terms of color, I opted for a single deep green, a nod to nature, to contrast with the shirt's white and to reduce printing costs.
I loved the opportunity to collaborate with them, and if given the change, I would love to do it again. The organizers are such great, wholesome people, and I wish them all the success with this project.
